About Botanical Dye
Botanical dye is an evolved form of Japan’s traditional plant-based dyeing technique. As the name suggests, it combines botanical (plants) and dye, using natural materials such as leaves, flowers, and nuts to create pigments that color fibers like cotton or wool.

In general plant dyeing, only about 20% of the dye content is natural, and many chemical agents are used to fix the color. In contrast, botanical dye uses a special natural adhesive to bind the pigment to the fibers, maintaining a natural dye ratio of over 60%, while reducing environmental and human impact.

Moreover, since a single plant contains more than 100 types of pigments, botanical dyeing produces deep, complex tones that cannot be replicated by chemical dyes — one of its most distinctive charms.
